Since our founding in 1972, SoBRO has served over 20,000 students, helped to create and retain more than 40,000 jobs for area residents, and created the climate for hundreds of million dollars of capital investment into the South Bronx.

Real Estate:
- Rehabilitate existing building and create new buildings in vacant space
- Increase availability of owner-occupied and rental housing for low- and moderate-income families by generating available housing
- Commercial development building and rehabilitation
Urban Planning:
- Integrate brownfield remediation and redevelopment, waterfront revitalization, green infrastructure and design, and public space planning, to promote healthy, resilient, and equitable communities
Green Infrastructure:
- Focus on green practices and sustainable design to address environmental and public health challenges
Greenroofs: stormwater-capturing green roofs, native grasses and flowers, riverstone walking path, seating areas, edible and ornamental plants (partnered with Brooklyn Grange - to design and oversee the installation of both green roofs)
ReFIT - initiative to assest industrial businesses to improve building performance, reducing business owners; expenses and educating them regarding the value of green infrastructure, mitigate core environmental concerns and create green jobs in the Bronx
Career Development:
- Assists residents with seeking and retaining employment
Business Assistance:
- Assists new and existing businesses to start and grow with programs that provide services that address comprehensive needs of businesses, a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs
