About the Organization:
Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) is dedicated to strengthening sustainable agriculture by offering peer-review certification to farmers and beekeepers who use natural practices free of synthetic chemicals or GMOs to produce food for their local communities. CNG is a grassroots non-profit organization founded by farmers in 2002, when the National Organic Program took effect. These farmers were committed to organic practices but wanted a certification program that was tailored to community-based farms. CNG’s peer-review approach is based on transparency, direct relationships and a firm belief in our ability to create something uniquely valuable by working together. All Certified Naturally Grown farmers and beekeepers have a profile on the CNG website, which also contains many resources for its members.
#CNGgrit is a project that invites photographers – hobbyists and professionals – to help capture images of farm work in order to document and celebrate the determination and labor that goes into producing naturally grown food.
