Middle School Success

In the first months of middle school implementation we have seen 10,000 additional middle school students eating school lunch each day (15,000 in February). This is a clear and significant initial success.

The Mayor’s response

Despite this early success, the Mayor did not include expansion in the Executive budget and stated that the middle school initiative yielded “mixed results”.

The potential impact of citywide universal is enormous — 10,000 more middle school students are eating each day — and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
