Climate Week NYC returns September 20–27 with food and agriculture as one of its twelve official themes. This year’s lineup is stacked. There’s a maritime food history walking tour, a volunteer shift rescuing surplus produce at the Union Square Greenmarket, a multimedia gallery on young farmers, an outdoor foraging gathering on the Bronx River, a corn party, and dozens of panels and summits on everything from the Farm Bill to food waste. A lot of the events are invitation-only, but most accept requests from the public. We’ve pulled it all together below, day by day.
Sunday, September 21
Putting Farmers First: How Young Farmers are Shaping the Future of Food – 6:30pm, The Greene Space at WNYC, 44 Charlton St, Manhattan. Food Tank and Whole Foods Market kick off the week with young growers from Brooklyn to Colorado alongside Whole Foods CEO Jason Buechel and National Young Farmers Coalition Executive Director Michelle Hughes.
