The Sylvia Center
The Sylvia Center’s (TSC) catalog of programs is designed to educate participants on what constitutes a healthy food choice, while building confidence to select these foods on their own. TSC’s core research-based lessons teach the necessary skills to identify accessible and nutritious foods and master basic cooking skills and safety through dynamic cooking classes. Our teen and youth programming includes an introduction to food justice and food science. All programs are taught by a qualified instructor team composed of trained chefs, educators, sanitarians, and Registered Dietitians. Focused on community impact and youth advocacy, TSC strategically partners with community-based organizations, schools, religious organizations, and local businesses who share its values in order to deliver programming in all five boroughs of New York City and Columbia County, New York.
