About the Organization:
The New York City’s public health agency with a broad scope including inspection grades for restaurants, dog licenses, low to no-cost health clinics, birth certificates, epidemiology, public health policy, racial and ethnic health disparities and preventive healthcare agenda. Current challenges range from obesity, diabetes and heart disease to HIV/AIDS, tobacco addiction and substance abuse, and the threat of bioterrorism. Health inequity is a priority of the agency for which they are making strong efforts to close the gap.

Shop Healthy NYC is an initiative of the Health Department that aims to increase access to healthy food and engage residents and organizations to support sustainable food retail change in their community. The program influences supply and demand by working with food retailers, suppliers & distributors, and community members and organizations.

NYC Food distributors can use Good Choice to identify healthier healthier items in their inventory that meet the NYC Food Standards, in return their customers can more easily find and purchase healthier ingredients.
