Nazareth Housing is a community-based nonprofit committed to the promotion of housing stability and economic mobility among vulnerable families and individuals of New York City through the provision of: homelessness prevention services, emergency family shelter, supportive housing, and urgent needs assistance.
Serving over 500 individuals per month, Nazareth Housing meets the weekly nutrition needs of families in the Bronx and Lower East Side through a client-choice pantry. Taking a “more than food” approach, the pantry serves as a gateway to the broader range of services at Nazareth Housing such as: Housing counseling, Urgent needs assistance; and LifeLab programming that includes financial literacy workshops, job readiness workshops, and youth programming.

Food Pantry, Housing Stability
Born out of the urban homesteading movement in 1983, Nazareth Housing provides 29 units of transitional housing to homeless families with dependent children on the Lower East Side and the Bronx. In fiscal year 2014 53 families were hosted in our shelter units each night, including 160 children. With a thirty plus year proven track record, we have a well-developed approach to stabilize and strengthen families recovering from the multiple losses and traumas of homelessness.
