About the Organization:
Center for Social Inclusion’s (CSI) mission is to catalyze communities, government, and other institutions to dismantle structural racial inequity and create equitable outcome for all. CSI crafts and applies strategies and tools to transform our nation’s policies and practices, in order to achieve racial equity.

Our core programs, including Food Equity, identifies causes of racial inequity at a systems level and works with partners, through research and strategic convenings, to develop community-level solutions and national policy proposals. CSI’s research on food inequities sheds light on injustice in the global food system and strives to inform policymakers on inequality in food access. CSI co-develops policy ideas to transform structural racial inequity, support grassroots leaders, and move public will to promote strategies for structural transformation through public policy, with an ultimate goal of finding solutions that promote racial equity and fairness for everyone.
Latest Project:
In March 2016, the Center for Social Inclusion (CSI) hosted the first convening of the new national First Food Racial Equity Cohort-made up of 17 people from 14 different states-in Washington, DC. The First Food Cohort is working closely with CSI for two years to develop support at a community level for breastfeeding and breastfeeding education, especially for minorities, by encouraging and facilitating breastfeeding for new parents.
