Long Organization Description: Slow Food NYC works to create a food chain based on the principles of high quality and taste, environmental sustainability, and social justice—in essence, a food chain that is good, clean, and fair for all. We believe that every eater has right to enjoy sustainably and humanely produced, delicious food that is good for human health and well being, the planet, and those who labor to bring food to our tables.
Latest Project: Urban Harvest – The SFNYC program of good food education for New York City children in 15 schools around the city, in the South Bronx and East Harlem, on the Lower East Side, and in Brooklyn, and at a tuition-free, educational, urban farm in East New York, Brooklyn.
SLOW U – Good food engaging, educational events for adults.
Snail of Approval – An award recognizing local restaurants, bars, and food and beverage artisans and markets that contribute to a good, clean, and fair regional food chain.
