About the Organization: HCEC is a community-based 501(c )(3) organization that provides empowerment and emergency food programs to individuals and families living in the Brooklyn neighborhoods of North Crown Heights, Clinton Hill, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Prospect Heights. The people that we serve come from diverse economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Our service communities represent every ethnic and racial background found within New York City and for that matter, the world. During fiscal year July 2011 to June 2012, we served 11,370 meals from our soup kitchen and distributed 6,309 food pantry orders. We work to eliminate hunger and help people become self-sufficient through our youth, adult and senior programming, soup kitchen and food pantry.
