Farm School NYC’s mission is to train local residents in urban agriculture, in order to build self-reliant communities and inspire positive local action around food access and social, economic, and racial justice issues.

Farm School NYC offers urban agriculture training through two certificate programs as well as a wide range of individual courses. Our courses are taught by experts in the field and focus on a wide range of topics from social justice issues, to urban planting techniques, to grassroots community organizing. Through engaging, place-based education, Farm School classes cultivate future leaders in NYC’s food justice movement.

We offer a Citywide Certificate in Urban Agriculture focusing on the many urban farms and growing organizations located in NYC. We recently partnered with the Youth Farm for our Farm Intensive Certificate in Urban Agriculture for students to hone their skills in one location. The Citywide Certificate is designed so students can complete the program in 2 or more years, even for those working full time. The Farm Intensive Certificate offers extensive training over the course of 1 year. In addition to our Certificates, we also offer individual courses.
