We are excited to share that our executive director, Dr. Mark Chatarpal, has been invited to attend the 53rd Plenary Session of the United Nations Committee on World Food Security. It will take place at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome from October 20 to 24 where he will be representing the NYC Food Policy Center. The Committee on Wold Food Security (CFS) is widely recognized as the foremost global platform for food security and policy development that convenes leading international experts, government representatives, civil society organizations, and academic institutions. He will engage in high-level policy discussions on the state of food security and nutrition globally, contribute technical expertise on resilient urban food systems and indigenous foodways and practices, and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen coordination and develop evidence-based policy recommendations that advance food security worldwide. This invitation reflects growing recognition of the NYC Food Policy Center’s expertise and our contributions to advancing sustainable and equitable food systems both locally and worldwide.
