SUMMARY:3rd Annual Northwest Queens Food Day
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a day of cooking demonstrations with City Harvest\, youth planting workshops with City Growers\, composting with Build It Green! NYC\, the first GrowNYC Greenmarket of the season\, and much more from local civic organizations working together to build community access to fresh and affordable food. \nThe event is sponsored by Queens Action Council\, a local\, non-profit group made up of local residents and advocates seeking to raise awareness\, and collectively build a more just and sustainable food landscape in our community.  The Food Day is an annual event sponsored by the group and includes food demos\, information about food systems in the local community and participation by organizations in that sphere.  To date\, organizations including CityHarvest\, Hellgate Farm\, City Growers\, Hour Children\, Inc.\, Build it Green\, With Food in Mind\, Smiling Hogshead Ranch\, Green Shores NYC and Slow Food NYC are slated to participate.  This year\, Food Day coincides with several other events in the park\, including the LIC Bike Parade and the opening day of the GrowNYC Greenmarket farmers market.
