Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund Grantees Featured on NBC’s GIVE

by Charles Platkin, PhD, JD, MPH

A new show on NBC called Give is featuring the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund’s grantees as part of the network’s new programming block “The More You Know.” Give highlights the world of philanthropy by featuring the stories of high-impact nonprofit organizations throughout the country. In each episode, a celebrity ambassador visits select nonprofits who have been nominated by a foundation. The show is hosted by Jenna Bush Hager and Blaire Underwood; a clip of the show can be found here.

The Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund was chosen as one of those foundations and was invited to nominate two of it’s grantees to be featured for an episode. Because of it’s “Healthy Food & Community Change” initiative, it nominated Green City Force’s Urban Farm Corps and Northeast Brooklyn Housing Development Corporation (NEBHDCo). GCF’s Urban Farm Corps is part of the City’s Building Healthy Communities initiative with NYCHA, the Fund for Public Health and other partners, and NEBHDCo is one of the CDC’s partners in Local Initiatives Support Corporation NYC’s Communities for Healthy Food. Jenna visits both organizations to learn about their work.

The episode will broadcast on Saturday, January 14 at noon. We recommend you tune in!!!
