Heritage Radio Network Cooks Up More Than 35 Food Podcasts Per Week

by Justin Taylor

Name: Heritage Radio Network

What they do: They produce and distribute 35+ weekly food podcasts.

How they do it: HRN is an independent, member-supported, 501(c)(3) nonprofit radio station, broadcasting from two recycled shipping containers behind Roberta’s Pizza, a restaurant at the forefront of Brooklyn’s culinary renaissance. Their 40+ hosts invite influential, visionary people – from brewers and bartenders to pastry chefs, policymakers and more – to discuss today’s most vital issues.

Mission: “Heritage Radio Network’s mission is to create a more equitable, sustainable and delicious world by expanding the way eaters think about food.”

Latest project/campaign: “HRN’s newest show is Inside Julia’s Kitchen. Created by The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, Inside Julia’s Kitchen is your window into the Foundation’s world. Through this podcast, you’ll meet the bright lights of today’s food world, from the organizations the Foundation supports and works with to further Julia’s legacy to individuals at the forefront of cooking, culinary history, and food writing. Host Todd Shulkin (JCF’s Executive Director) will be talking to those who are shaping the way we eat, cook and think about food, just as Julia did by inviting the country’s top talent into her kitchen. Grab a seat at the Foundation’s table and listen in.”

Major Funding: Member donations and underwriting support.
