From Food System NYC’s website: “The second episode of Everything’s on the Table: What’s the Recipe for the Future of Food in NYC? focuses on hunger and food insecurity in NYC. Poverty and hunger are inextricably connected. Recent census data indicate that the poverty rate is up in NYC and that the income gap has widened between the poor and the wealthy. How should the next administration seek to end poverty and hunger in our city? What initiatives of the Bloomberg administration should be continued and how can the approach be strengthened?”

Hosts include City Harvest’s Director of Policy and Government Relations, Kate MacKenzie and Heritage Radio Network’s Erin Fairbanks, and guests include:
Michael Hurwitz, Director of Greenmarket

Rick Luftglass, Executive Director of the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund

Cathy Nonas, Director of the New York City Health Department’s Physical Activity and Nutrition program.

and our very own Jan Poppendieck, Policy Director, NYC Food Policy Center and Professor Emerita of Sociology at Hunter College.
